MODERN SALON WOMEN'S MANICURE . with gel polish coating

Competitive task:

▪ To perform professional salon women's manicure with a red classic gel polish coating on one hand of the model.

When performing the procedure, the contestant can use any manicure technique (classical, hardware or a combined manicure technique).

The contestants are permitted to use:

- products for cuticle softening;

- manicure machines.

Requirements:

1. Each participant should come with her/his own model with natural non-polished nails without coating with artificial materials and without artificial lengthening.

2. Models with the nails covered with fabric coatings or materials for modeling are not allowed to participate in the competition. Also, the natural nails repaired with materials for nails modeling (acrylic, gel, fabric coatings) are not allowed.

3. Cuticle on the model’s nails should be well-developed, in order the judges could see clearly the difference between the cuticle on the untreated and the treated hands.

4. Before the start of the competition hands of the models should be checked by statisticians with filling in special nail-check sheets. Technical judge records initial state of the cuticle and nails, namely:

▪ cuticle should be in the “neglected” state on both hands;

▪ equivalence of the cuticle state on both hands;

▪ damage to nails, cuticle;

▪ presence of white dots on the nails;

▪ absence of materials for modeling and strengthening nails on the nail plate.

5. If any deviations are discovered, technical judge records them in the nail-check sheets and reports these points to the panel of judges.

6. Work must be performed with the use of advanced technologies and professional products used in the salons.

7. If the hands of the model were prepared in advance, or are not “difficult” for performance of competitive work (this can be understood from the nail-check sheets), the participant is not allowed to participate in competition.

8. Masters are allowed to enter the competition field, only with a completely sterile set of necessary tools (a set of tools, both cutting and rotating (for a hardware manicure) must be contained in the craft package).

9. Removal of cuticle on BOTH hands before or during the competition is not allowed. Cuticle should be in the "neglected" state. During the competition on the hand, to which gel coating is not applied, cuticle remains intact. This hand is used to compare and evaluate cuticle processing performed on the other hand.

  •
CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION:
  • Overall impression (max. 10 points)

Professionalism and cleanliness of salon manicure (cuticle processing, coating and design). The overall impression of the hands and nails.

  • Length (max. 10 points)

Length of the nail free edge should not exceed 5 mm. Length should be in harmony with the shape of the nail plate. Length of the nail plates should be the same (index, middle and ring fingers), a little bit shorter on the little finger, a little bit longer on the thumb.

  • Shape (max.10 points)

Shape of the nail free edge can be arbitrary, but it must match the shape of the hands and fingers. Shape should also be clear, identical and symmetrical.

  • Technique (max.10 points)

Technical performance of the work is evaluated. The skin around the nails should be without cuts, cracks, burrs, and most importantly, smooth, thin, without a trace of manicure tools.

  • Cuticle processing (max. 10 points).

Cuticle should be removed evenly and without damage. Cleanliness and absence of tool traces are evaluated. If there is no pronounced cuticle on both hands of the model, this criterion can not be estimated at more than 3 points.

  • Processing of the right lateral wall of the nail (max. 5 points)

Lateral walls of the nail should be soft, smooth, without roughness and traces of tools and files. Lateral walls of the nails should have delicate, elastic skin, without cuts and injuries that may occur during the competition.

  • Processing of the left lateral wall of the nail (max. 5 points)

Lateral walls of the nail should be soft, smooth, without roughness and traces of tools and files. Lateral walls of the nail should have delicate, elastic skin, without cuts and injuries that may occur during the competition.

  • Gel polish nail coating (max.10 points)

Nails coating with red gel polish should be uniform, density of the color on the entire surface of the nails should be smooth and uniform without spotting and bald patches. Coating must be made taking into account peculiarities of the natural nail plate. Ends of the nails must be coated.

  • Gel polish coating in the cuticle area (max. 5 points)

In the area of the cuticle, the line should be smooth, repeating its shape, distance to the coating should not exceed 0.1 mm.

  • Topcoat (max. 5 points)

Surface should be perfectly shiny. Topcoat must be applied evenly. The nail must have a smooth shine, without dullness, knobble and "islands".

  • Clean and accurate work (max. 5 points)

Cleanliness and accuracy of work is evaluated. On the back of the nails there should be no traces of polish. There should be no remains of polish or oil on the hands of the model. Manicure should be performed clean, also have an elegant, natural look without redness. Damage caused during the manicure will be taken into account when scoring. There should be no visible remains of oil, lotion, cream.

  • Penalty points (max. 20 points)

Are accrued in the following cases:

▪ When causing injuries to the models that are expressed in cuticle cuts, gouging of the natural nails (max. 10 points);

▪ 10 penalty points are accrued by one of the judges if there are any special signs on the model’s hands: scars, hematomas, tattoos, warts, burns, etc.

Penalty points may also be accrued by the panel of judges if the rules of the Championship/nomination are not observed.

Maximum amount of points – 85

SALON FRENCH NAILS MODELING. MASTER

Participants can take masters with experience of up to 3 years.

Competitive task: the participants must perform salon nail modeling using “French” technique on two hands. Modeling can be performed with the use of gel, acrylic, polygel. Nail modeling can be performed on the forms only. The forms can be prepared (trimmed) in advance, but not applied. When using camouflage materials, the “extension” of the nail plate should not protrude beyond the finger cushion by more than 2 mm.

Allowed:

To use all and any types of camouflage materials in the area of the fingernail bed.

To use a top UV coating to make the nails shining.

To use a milling device.

Prohibited:

To use full-size and white tips for express-French, upper forms, white gel-paint, transparent gel, acrylic, polygel for the base.

Evaluation Criteria:
  • Length (max. 10 points)

The length of the free edge of the nail should be at least half the size of the nail plate, but not exceed it in length. The length should be accurate and equally proportional to the length of the nail plate. The length of the nails on the index, middle and ring fingers should be the same. The length of the extension and the white free edge on these fingers should also be the same. The size of the free edge of the little finger and the thumb should be proportional to the length of the nail plates.

  • Form (max. 10 points)

The shape of the nails must be the same on all 10 fingers and represent a clear square with 90 degrees angles.

  • Lateral sides (max. 10 points)

The sides of the nails should be parallel to each other, as well as the central axis of the finger. They are a continuation of the nail plate and should come out of the nail bed clearly and directly. Any “narrowing” or “expansion” of the free edge of the nails is not allowed. When turning the hand, the thickness of the sides should be the same and correspond to the thickness of the hairline, i.e. front edge.

  • Longitudinal arch (max. 10 points)

The arch should have the correct shape and have the same height when viewed from the side. Apex (highest point) should be located the same and have the same height on all nails.

  • Cross arch (concave and convex) (max. 10 points)

The highest point should be located the same and have the same height on all nails. The surface of the nails should be uniform, without incisions, dips or elevations, the arch should smoothly change its curvature from the cuticle to the free edge. The arch should be 30-50% of the circumference and should have the same bend on all nails.

  • Front edge (hairline) (max. 10 points)

The free edge of the nail should look evenly thin. The thickness of the free edge should correspond the thickness of the credit card on all nails.

  • Smile line shape (max. 10 points)

A smile line should be symmetrical, uniform in shape and height and look like a mirror reflection of the shape of the cuticle.

  • Precision of the smile line (max. 10 points)

The precision and brightness of the line dividing the free edge from the nail bed is evaluated. It should be clear, contrasting, without distortion and smudge of the material.

  • Material quality (fingernail bed) (max. 10 points)

 The camouflage or transparent material on the nail plate should be uniform in color, without bubbles and spots from the cuticle to the smile line. The boundary of the artificial material transition to the natural nail should not be noticeable, should be uniform along the entire perimeter and at the same distance from the cuticle, but not more than 0.5 mm.
